This kit is sufficient for 5 gallon batches of beer made from extract ingredient kits or recipes including specialty malts.

This kit allows your to make a small yeast starter before adding it to your 5 gallon batch. The idea of a starter is to jump start the fermentation process. Not only will a higher yeast cell count help start your batch quicker, but it will help keep any bacteria that may have entered the fermenter from having an adverse effect on your beer.
